So, this caught me off guard:

At first I thought spellcheck said "snuck" was wrong because of a regional difference. Not so! It says it's wrong because the past-tense of "sneak" has always been "sneaked" and "snuck" is nonstandard! Go figure. 😆

Sometimes the hardest thing to do with a creation is deciding on a name for it.

I don't debate TERFs for the same reason I don't debate moon-landing deniers, flat-earthers, or young-earth creationists.

It's not because I can't win or because their tactics are dishonest; it's because even agreeing that their position is meaningful enough to debate elevates that position above its merits and gives it credibility in the eyes of onlookers.

There's no value to me in even considering a debate with people who believe in the opposite of reality.

U.S. Politics, some negativity

I'm really glad to hear that Richard has resigned from the ( Foundation):

Brought on by recent disgusting comments made by him that FINALLY made the rounds, after years of similar comments. But Stallman has been causing all sorts of trouble for the community for years and he's largely responsible for the problems I have with the FSF's strategy I wrote about on my website. Maybe, just maybe, this will be the start of a libre software movement that isn't stuck on the sidelines and can make some actual progress.

The fight for diversity, equality and inclusion is the fight for software freedom. Our movement will only be successful if it includes everyone. RMS does not speak for these values.

Sexism, transphobia, gender roles

if you have money and the thing you want directly supports a creator or organization which does good, buy it.

the Amazon propaganda on twitter is so disgusting and creepy, they pay their own "low tier " employees (oh excuse me "associate") to say good thing about them and answer the bad thing by telling everything is fine.... Fuckin hell

I used to have that insecurity over liking "masculine" things and whether I'm still "really" a woman quite a bit myself... 😅 But what I've realized is that ultimately, your experienced gender doesn't need to be validated; it *is* valid, regardless of what anyone thinks or whether or not you align with societal expectations for your experienced gender.

More directly, for example, if you have short hair, wear men's clothes, have a deep voice, do not do HRT, have not had any surgery, and enjoy playing video games and watching sports, I don't care what society says about you, if you identify as a woman, then you're a woman, end of discussion. Everything else is entirely up to what *you* want for *yourself*, and none of it can *ever* make you any less of what you feel you are deep down inside.

The same, goes, of course, if you identify as or and happen to match up with societal expectations for men or for women.

Google, who became the most powerful corporation in the world by selling web ads: Hey in the future every computer program should actually be a website. Don't worry about why, just do it. It'll be cool. We're the vanguard of technology or something

People: ok

People: hey why does this calendar i downloaded have ads in it

Google: Haha cool
